Samsung Updates Ativ Book 9 Ultrabook, Makes It Thinner And Lighter Than MacBook Air
Samsung has updated the Ativ Book 9 laptops, making it thinner and lighter than MacBook Air. The brand new 2015 version of Ativ Book 9 laptop computer will be shown off at CES 2015.
The update boasts many of the specs that have been tipped to be included in the Apple MacBook Air's upcoming update.
Samsung Ativ Book 9 has a 12.2-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600. The laptop has an impressive outdoor mode, allowing users to increase brightness up to 700 nits when needed.
This is the first time Samsung has built a laptop without fan, being powered by Intel Broadwell Core processors.
Ativ Book 9 is just 0.46-inches thick, and weighs 2.1lbs, thanks to the processors. This form factor makes Ativ Book 9 lighter and thinner than 11-inch MacBook Air as well.
The ultrabook will run Windows 8.1 out of the box and will hit shelves in the first quarter of 2015.
Initially, the laptop will be launched in two models: one with 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD will be available for $1,199 and another with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD for $1,399.
Ativ Book 9 by Samsung also offers 10.5 hours of battery life, a feature that could be a serious consideration for users who are always on the move.
Among other additional features, the laptop includes a Wi-Fi Amp - capable of bumping Internet speed up to 20 percent faster.
Apple has also been rumored to launch a 12-inch MacBook Air, powered by Intel Broadwell chips, a fanless design along with a Retina Display.
