"The Simpsons" has confirmed its renewal for the 29th and 30th seasons. This renewal of two seasons has made the series the longest -running scripted television show.

According to a report in Digital Trends, "The Simpsons" has outrun 'Gunsmoke' as the longest running series. The show going to be on its 669th episodes right after Season 30 while 'Gunsmoke' only had 635 episodes after it ended.

"The Simpsons" has been important to Fox Network after all these years. It has an average of 7.2 million viewers per episode which always has a high rating all throughout. Additionally, the show has always had impact to the viewers and it always relays its message across well.

In a report from Forbes, "The Simpsons" launched in 1989 and has been the first show in Fox to make it to the top 30 ratings. Its 600th episode has given the show a rating of 10.6 million viewers. This top ratings has given Fox the advantage for advertisers.

Fox can charge high rate for advertisers due to "The Simpsons'" consistent high rating. This makes the network wanting to work for more t make viewers locked in for the upcoming seasons. The show is at its 28th season recently and soon will air its new two seasons.

Meanwhile, before "The Simpsons" Season 29 and 30, there is going to be a marathon for the previous seasons up until the 28th according to a report in Mobi Picker. The marathon for the show starts on November 24 up until December 6. This will go on for 13 straight days.

It is also rumored that "The Simpsons" Season 30 might be the last for the show. The series has been running for a long time now and has always introduced several characters as the show moved along. This longest- run only indicates that the show still provides more for the viewers.
