No sight of the Neanderthal family coming back in 2017.   That's about getting hundreds of thousands sad emoticon flooding.  Yes, "The Croods 2" is shelved. The sequel on the prehistoric comedy adventure following the first family in the planet, headed by the father Grug, is yet to be talked about for the second installment.

The Chairman of Universal Pictures, Donna Langley confirmed the not so happy news.  She shared in Variety, that the filming of "The Croods 2" is ceased immediately.  The Universal Pictures is the new parent of Dreamworks Animation.  Thus, an estimate of 30 production staff working together for the film, are jobless.  Dreamworks, however, is finding ways to keep these staff employed at the studio.  The production also reported earlier that they have encountered a few crisis thus pushing the uncertainty issues on filming the sequel.

2013's The Croods left significant family values in the film. It is a story of the family who lived in a cave.  They are the lone survivor in the community.  Naturally, the father, Grug lived according to the rules of survival he learned over the years, and they should all stay in the cave together, for security.  Grug's character is threatened by modernization.  However, conflict arose, when Eep, the eldest boldly explored the world outside the cave.  She is the absolute opposite of her dad.  The story follows the adventure of the whole family, accepting change for the better and how is it to live in the outside world.  It featured the voices of Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Clark Duke, Catherine Keener and Cloris Leachman.

"The Croods 2" is expected to be released originally on November 3, 2017, then, extended to a later date, December 22.  With the arising dwindling concerns, the "The Croods 2" outcome might be resurrected to January 5, 2018.

Good thing, Croods enthusiasts, still have Netflix'TV Series, The Dawn of the Croods in their pockets.
