Head's up, Kitty fans! The popular cat collecting app is having a live-action film next year. AMG Entertainment announced that they'll release the live-action film titled Neko Atsume no Ie (Neko Atsume's Home) sometime next year.

The film's story follows Katsu Sakumoto, a novelist who won an award and became a best-selling author. He has been dealing with writer's block lately. To address this issue, he moves to a new home in the rural area, where he saw a lone cat in his garden. This perked him up a little from all the stress and anxiety he's feeling and tries to engage a conversation with the cat. Unfortunately, the cat goes away, leaving Sakumoto down again. That evening, he decided to leave out food for the cat in case the cat comes back. The following day, he finds the food he left out the previous night is gone!

The app has been downloaded over 19 million times worldwide since its release in 2014. The game allows players to play it passively by setting out food or toys for cats to use. They could come back after a few hours and will see a cat or two playing with some of the things lying around in your house or garden. The game has inspired a lot of people to bring out their inner cat lady in them. Neko Atsume appeals to cat lovers with its variety of cats to choose from and with its Pokemon-like collecting responsibilities. This will leave you the urge to "gotta collect 'em all" even when you're away.

Atsushi Itou (known for live-action series, Flying Colors/Birigal) will play as the protagonist of the film, the author Katsu Sakumoto. Masatoshi Kurataka, known as the director of Crossroads (Ai o Tsutaerare nao Otona-Tachi e) will be directing the film. Mediand will be producing the film.
If you haven't played Neko Atsume, you can find the game here.
