Zayn Malik Health Issues Confirmed
Months after leaving the hit band One Direction, singer Zayn Malik admits to having suffered serious health issues while being on tour with his bandmates. Malik, 23, released a new autobiography in which he admitted he battles anxiety.
The former One Direction writes about these struggles while he was on tour with the band, and how hard the whole experience was. Malik also admitted to his fans that it was the reason he was unable to perform at London's Capital Summertime Ball last June.
The new autobiography, entitled 'Zayn', the Pillowtalk hitmaker wrote: "When I look back at the images of myself from around November 2014, before the final tour, I can see how ill I was. Something I've never talked about in public before, but which I have come to terms with since leaving the band, is that I was suffering from an eating disorder."
Malik revealed that he was not concerned about his weight, but was not attempting to gain some control. In a statement he made while speaking to Associated Press, Malik explained his condition further, saying that he was often so busy with living life on the road that he wouldn't eat.
He added, "I realized that I wasn't eating as much just down to the amount of work that we were doing. Our schedule was crazy, so we were all over the place." Just last year, Malik released a shocking statement that said: I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who can relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.' Months later, he quit the band, stunning millions of fans and admirers from across the globe.
In another statement, Malik claimed that he was never diagnosed with an eating disorder and that the problem was due to lack of life management. He also assured his fans that he is getting better at managing his diet now.
Malik's autobiography was published on November 1.
