Is Val Kilmer Afflicted With Throat Cancer? Michael Douglas Claims So In An Interview
Val Kilmer has denied reports that he is suffering from oral cancer, in response to fellow actor Michael Douglas' revelations in an interview with English television and radio presenter Jonathan Ross for a television special. The two stars acted together in the 1996 historical adventure film "The Ghost and the Darkness."
According to Michael Douglas, "things don't look too good" for his friend Val Kilmer. Douglas added that his prayers are with Kilmer. "That's why you haven't heard too much from Val lately," he said.
The "Batman Forever" actor wrote on social media site Facebook to refute the news of his declining health. Val Kilmer described the news as "greatly exaggerated." He noted that "I am sure still standing! Yipee!
Back in January 2015, the "Daily Mail" reported on the hospitalization of Val Kilmer after bleeding from his mouth due to a throat tumor. A month later, Kilmer denied about his worsening in health in a Page Six column in "The New York Post."
Later in 2015, the actor was seen with a tracheostomy tube around his neck, based on a People magazine news. Kilmer's public appearances showed him sporting scarves and bandanas.
In January 2016, the Page Six column discussed that Kilmer is not seeking treatment due to his religious beliefs. The actor belongs to the Christian Scientist religion, which does not approve of medical treatment. The "Top Gun" actor addressed the health scare talk on his personal Facebook page.
As of this writing, a representative for Michael Douglas clarified the actor's comments about Val Kilmer. The rep told "US Weekly" magazine that Michael and Val have no communication for over a year. Michael wished Val the best, the rep noted.
In 2010, Michael Douglas battled throat cancer and became cancer-free in 2011 after undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
