Pageant News: Miss Ecuador Wins Miss Earth 2016 [WATCH HERE]
Miss Ecuador, Katherine Espina held victorious at the Miss Earth 2016 grand coronation night Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines. The host country's bet Imelda Schweighart failed to make it through the first cut. Espin succeed last year's winner, Angelia Ong from the Philippines.
Ms. Espin is a model, cosmetologist, and a role model. Miss Ecuador's platform is instilling the importance of taking good care of the environment and to the younger generation. The other winners of the pageant were Michelle Gomes of Colombia (Miss Eart Air), Stephanie De Zorzi of Venezuela (Miss Earth Water), and Bruna Zanardo of Brazil (Miss Earth Fire).
The final question for the top 4 ladies was about the Paris agreement, and what will be their program to protect mother earth. With grace and poise, Miss Ecuador answered "I truly believe in the 5 R's, which is re-think, reduce, re-use, recycle and Respect. Because I believe that as human beings, if we apply that to our everyday lives, we can make a change, and we will reduce the problem that we just mentioned. If we apply that to our everyday lives, I believe that we... can save the place we live in which is our Mother Earth."
This is the second time Ecuador has won the Manila - based Pageant. Meanwhile, Philippines bet Imelda Schweighart, who's gunning for the countries three - peat, fell off short. It seems like the momentum of the Filipina Beauty Queens stopped.
Miss Earth followed last week's Miss International which Philippine's bet Kylie Versoza took home the crown. Also, a good performance of Nicole Cordoves who ranked first place at Miss International Grand International Pageant.
With Miss Universe left to be discovered and is one of the most anticipated events in the pageant world, who do you think will rise to the top.
