NBA News: LeBron James Talks About Being Compared to Michael Jordan

Throughout his storied career, NBA Finals 2016 MVP LeBron James has often been compared to the great Michael Jordan.

"King James'" stellar performances have given him enough marquee success to be compared to the man who is still widely considered as the greatest to ever play the game of basketball. He did draw flak multiple times in the past for not being able to win NBA titles.

LeBron's status then became more legitimate when he began bagging the crown for the Miami Heat. After winning two titles with Miami, he went on to make a return to Cleveland to help steer the Cavaliers to its first ever franchise title last June.

James went up against Stephen Curry and the rest of the Golden State Warriors, who were the 2015 NBA champions. The two teams already met each other during the previous NBA Finals series, making this year's victory a form of vindication for the Cavaliers.

The recent crown that James had won took him a grueling seven-game series with the former champions to achieve. This is one ace up his sleeve which he believes gives him the edge during Jordan comparisons. During an August episode of the "Open Run" podcast, James threw light jabs at Jordan not being able to play a seven-game series.

"I don't think MJ ever had a Game 7 in the Finals. And people say 'Oh, well he was able to close it out early' and they act like he just did it all on his own," James said.

At the end of the day, however, James maintains his respect and admiration for Jordan. But as far as the comparisons go, what matters to him is being remembered as a player who made a mark in the league in his own way.

"I want to make a point in this league where guys look back at the run that I had and be like, 'Wow, what he was able to do was some good times, some good ball, and what he was able to accomplish was either something we've never seen before, or was one of a kind,'" James said in another interview with Cleveland.com.
