The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly pursuing JR Smith if the Cavaliers would not re-sign him. It's no surprise that the Los Angeles Lakers might come up with an idea to sign JR Smith since they are in the rebuilding status.

A new NBA trade rumor has recently born as the Lakers are reportedly having an interest to JR Smith. In the report by the HNGN, the Lakers will then have to pull out Jordan Clarkson to trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers for JR Smith.

JR Smith can add the depth that the Lakers are looking for. As an NBA veteran, JR Smith would be a great mentor for the whole Lakers Squad since they compose of young talents.

Even with LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers would accept the fact that they could not win their ring without JR Smith. The Bleacher Report shows how JR Smith contributes as he led the Cavaliers in 3-points made with 2.6 per night while shooting 40% behind the arc. Going to the finals, Smith even increased his 3-point shooting percentage up to 43%.

In the NBA trade rumor scenario, it seems that the Cavaliers would have to make a sign-and-trade for JR Smith. This NBA sign-and-trade, we can say this makes sense as both teams would have received a good player. The question is, how could Jordan Clarkson make an impact to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

As we compare JR Smith and Jordan Clarkson, both players are valuable, both players have a different play style that makes them both special. If the Cavaliers might come have to consider this NBA trade scenario, they will likely need to make an adjustment as Jordan Clarkson is not as skilled as JR Smith outside the 3-point line.

Still a few days left before the official NBA games start, JR Smith is still sitting in the NBA free agent pool. As several fans expect, JR Smith might end up playing with the Cavaliers again.
