Zayn Malik News & Updates 2016: Gigi Hadid Beau Zayn Malik Enters Fashion Designing, Lands At Versus Versace

For Zayn Malik to be romantically connected with famous model Gigi Hadid is no shock, but for him to be entering the fashion world is some exciting, huge news. Add to that: it is not just "some" shop.

News about Zayn Malik collaborating with Versus Versace has hit internet by storm Wednesday. New York Times reports that the line did not have a creative director since April this year, when Anthony Vaccarello was announced to succeed Hedi Silmane at Yves Saint Laurent. Thus, Malik taking the position.

It is not so often that we hear news about 23-year-old R&B singers hopping into the fashion world in a snap, without any designer background and experience. However, there must be something Donatella Versace saw through the former member of the 'One Direction' band. Zayn Malik is also a social media star with a whopping 35 million combined Instagram and Twitter followers.

The Hollywood Reporter cited Malik in his statement after the London Fashion Week. "I've always wanted to design clothes, and there's no brand I'd rather design for than Versus. The bonus is that I get to collaborate with Donatella, whom I love and admire," Malik said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Versace was also quoted in a report by USA today, citing why he chose Malik over all of the other aspirants. She expressed her admiration to Malik by saying "he was so mature, so thoughtful, treated her [Gigi Hadid] like such a gentleman. They are very nice young people, a lovely couple, in fact. And then he told me how much he loved fashion. It was then I knew he was the right face for what I had in mind."

Ms. Versace did not disclose yet which playbook Malik will work on, however, it most probably involve Gigi. As for the Zayn-Versus collection, it is said to be shown to the media next spring.
