Boston Celtics Expressed Interest To NBA Free Agent J.R. Smith; Could Celtics Convince J.R. Smith Not To Re-Sign With The Cavaliers?
J.R. Smith has been the face of every sports news until today. Not to mention that the Cleveland Cavaliers are having a hard time re-signing him back, but also some NBA teams show interest in him like the Boston Celtics.
The Boston Celtics are currently an NBA Playoffs-ready, but are still looking to find more ways to go on top at least to the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. As J.R. Smith still hangs on the NBA free agent pool, the Boston Celtics are reportedly having some interest to him.
According to the Celtics Blog, the Celtics want to add up J.R. Smith in their second unit. If acquired, the Celtics will be using Smith as a backup shooting guard for Gerald Green. Aside from the fact that J.R. Smith would provide a lot of bench depth for the Celtics, it will eventually hurt the Cleveland Cavaliers as they will also lose one of their core players.

As per the Celtics Life, the Boston Celtics have a major issue as they pursue to sign J.R. Smith. The Celtics only have $9 million left on their cap room to sign J.R. Smith, who has an asking price of $15 million. Celtics' offer is about $1 to $2 million less than the Cavaliers' offer which is reportedly between $10 to 11 million, still not enough to align with Smith's asking salary.
J.R. Smith is a long range bomber, a player that can be explosive as many NBA All-Star does. Smith can cover the gaps of a star player whenever the off-night comes around. An alpha dog that steps up, J.R. Smith is a very reliable player, whether coming off the bench or better yet as a starter.
The Celtics fans would be happy to see J.R. Smith in a green, but it's like to be not-for-today so far. As many have speculated, J.R. Smith would probably be seen beside LeBron James again, this season.
