NBA Free Agency: Cleveland Cavaliers To Sign Kevin Martin To A Veteran Minimum; J.R. Smith Turned Down Offer From Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers are still in search of a shooting as J.R. Smith turned down the most recent offer. The Cavaliers are likely to target one of the best and reliable veteran Kevin Martin.
In the previous report held by the Parent Herald, the Cleveland Cavaliers are eyeing the NBA veteran Kevin Martin to add depth on the bench. Martin is now rumored to be a target for the Cavaliers as they need a new wingman since J.R. Smith is resisting to sign to offer that they can give.
Kevin Martin is a reliable shooter outside the 3-point line. He can stretch the floor for the Cavaliers' offense. Kevin Martin could also add the bench depth that the Cleveland Cavaliers need.

According to the Forbes, Kevin Martin wouldn't need to score as much as he usually does in his previous team, due to the fact that he would be teaming up with LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. If Lue decides to pull him out of the bench, he will be tasked to score once the defense mobbed any of the Cavaliers big 3.
If acquired by the Cavaliers, Martin would be a very big help to the team as they defend their NBA title. Kevin Martin had a career average of 17.4 points and is shooting 38% from the 3-point line. In his 12 season playing in the NBA, he had only 2 seasons where he only averaged single figure scoring, his rookie season and during his injury plagued season with the Spurs.
In addition, the Cavaliers have just signed the NBA veteran Toney Douglas in a reported veteran minimum. He considered to be a replacement for Mo Williams as he already confirmed his retirement.
J.R. Smith and the Cavaliers seemed to be in a tough situation today, but the Cavaliers cannot afford to let the upcoming NBA season start without completing their final roster. The Cavaliers need to decide whether to start their title defense season with or without J.R. Smith.
