This is not a surprising decision since he did not like the management nor the members, according to the rumors. Besides, he might prefer a free agency for a higher salary. Claims have also surfaced that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Sacramento Kings might also be having trade talks about Gay and Shumpert. It is better for the Kings to trade him now than losing him next summer without having a new player in return. Gay is an attractive and prolific scorer while Kings is interested in acquiring Shumpert, according to rumors.

There is speculation that the Cavaliers will trade Shumpert because of his poor performance previously. Nick Young from Lakers is offered for Sacramento Kings to get Gay is also reported. Lakers could also offer Nick Young to get Gay from the Kings according to the report.
