Supernatural Season 12: Spoilers, Rick Springfield to Play Lucifer, Show's End Date in Sight
Supernatural's new season is set to start this October, and fans can expect it to bring lots of hell. Lucifer is back, in the form of a fully possessed washed up rock star, and will be played by Rick Springfield, according to Inquisitr. Crowley, played by Mark Sheppard, will likely have his hands full, trying to reclaim his kingdom from his boss.
The show has also frequently played the resurrection card, and this new season is now different. Season 12's resurrection character is none other than Mary, Sam and Dean Winchester's mother. A hunter before she decided to settle down and raise a family, Mary died soon after Sam's birth. One can only wonder how she will fit with the sons who grew up without her.
According to Enstars, Season 12 will also extensively focus on hunters. Past seasons have focused mainly on heaven or hell (or both), but this season aims to be different. Episode 6 in particular will introduce new hunters, Roy and Alicia, who's background story includes being raised by a witch.
As to how they became hunters, we can only watch and wait for the explanation. Alicia is to be played by Kara Royster, known for her role as Yvonne Phillips in Pretty Little Liars.
Dark Horizons also reports that Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki (Dean and Sam Winchester respectively) may have decided on an end date for the long running show. Both say that they see the 300th episode as the potential end date for the series.
Padalecki says, "If we don't make it to 300, I think Ackles and I will both be truly bummed. When we get to 300, I think Ackles and I will think it might be time to say bye. There's a chance that changes, but we certainly do not take it for granted that we're going to make it to 300."
