iPhone 7 vs Galaxy S7 Specs, Features, Prices Compared: Which Is Better?

Samsung Galaxy S7 was recently released earlier this year and with its powerful specifications, it was dubbed as a nearly perfect smartphone by some technology websites. But now that the features of the iPhone 7 are finally confirmed, iPhone 7 vs Galaxy S7 stories had been around the web comparing both handsets.

Design

In terms of design, Samsung looks attractive with a svelte 142 x 70 x 8mm chassis. It is available in Black, White, Gold, Silver and Pink Gold with a glass front and back and metal edges. The iPhone 7 also looks attractive with a slim 7.1mm chasis. It also comes in five colors, Gold, Silver, Rose Gold, Black and glossy Jet Black.

iPhone 7 weighs 138g which is lighter than the Galaxy S7 which weighs 152g. Both units are water-resistant. The iPhone 7 can withstand rain and shower while the Galaxy S7 can be exposed more with water.

Display

The display of Galaxy S7 is at 5.1-inch Super AMOLED with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixel screen, offering 577ppi pixel density. Its display is coated with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4. As for the iPhone 7, it measures 4.7 inches with a resolution of 1,334 x 720 pixels at 326ppi. But the display of Apple's new flagship is more colorful, brighter and sharper, Trusted Reviews reported.

Hardware and Storage

The processor of Samsung Galaxy S7 varies depending on where you buy it. In the UK, it comes with Exynos 8890 processor at 2.3GHz with eight cores and features a Mali-T880 MP12 GPU. In the US, it runs with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, with four cores and an Adreno 530 GPU.

The iPhone uses a new system-on-chip which is the A10 Fusion, M10 motion coprocessor, 64-bit quad-core processor giving the phone a high performance.

Galaxy S7 storage is at 4GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB and it allows usage of a microSD slot that supports cards up to 256GB while the iPhone 7 totally ditched the 16GB storage with its lowest storage at 32GB. Although it does not support a microSD, it is also available in 128 GB and 256 GB storage.

Camera

For those who love taking pictures, Droid Life reported that the Galaxy S7's rear camera features Dual Pixel 12MP, (f/1.7), Smart OIS while its front camera is at 5MP. But it appears that the camera of iPhone 7 is better where in it has 12MP (f/1.8) rear camera and 7MP (f/2.2) front camera. The iPhone 7 Plus has another camera which is a 12MP telephoto (f/2.8, 2x optical zoom).

Prices

Prices for both phones are expected to be high because of their impressive features. The Galaxy S7, which is already out, is tagged at $750 (£569, AU$900) while the iPhone is at $769 (£719, AU$1,269) for a 32GB version, $869 (£819, AU$1,419) for the 128GB and $969 (£919, AU$1,569) for the 256GB version, Tech Radar reported.

The iPhone 7 Plus cost $749 (£619, AU$1,129) for the 32GB version while its 128GB version costs $849, (£699, AU$1,379) and the 256GB costs $949 (£789, AU$1,529).
