While everyone is excited for the release of Google Nexus phones, a report claims that the brand will be dropped off from its upcoming Android flagship and this will include its upcoming HTC phones that are code named Marlin and Sailfish.

Said phones will have a new brand name and will be giving users a new Android experience. Hence, instead of the Nexus brand, it will be carrying the Google "G" logo while the HTC name will not be seen in both smart phones. For now, it is not yet revealed as to what brand will be used instead of Nexus, The Verge reported.

Aside from dropping the brand, it will also give a different Android experience to its users as Android Central revealed that Google will be tweaking the phone's interface. But since these phones run purely on Android, it means that it will not have other software that will run on top of it, making it very favorable for Google Android users.

The change of brand for Sailfish and Marlin could be explained with the plan of Google in modifying its software since the Nexus hand phones purely run on Android while the upcoming units has a few changes on it. Both smart phones will be released with Android 7.0 Nougat.

“Our plan is still to work with OEMs to make phones,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai said according to BGR adding that they will invest more effort into the new Nexus products. Pichai first revealed that the phones will not merely stick on the Android experience.

The Sailfish version will come in 5-inch sizes while Marlin will be released on 5.5-inch screen sizes. It is also confirmed that the Marlin unit will be superior among the two.

The Google Nexus phones, which is how Sailfish and Marlin is known for, is expected to be released on fall this year.
