Ed Sheeran Under A Legal Predicament; The 25-Year Old To Face A Lawsuit of US$20M For 'Duplicating" Photograph
Just when we thought Ed Sheeran is currently dwelling in a state of his mentioned hiatus, the 25-year old is embroiled in a deep predicament, which has allowed him to resurface in the domain of never-ending paparazzi.
The chart-topping British wonder who bewildered his audience through his musical melodies is allegedly facing a lawsuit for US$20 million for his 'most trending' single, Photograph.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news highlighting that the song, Photograph is in verbatim, a total duplicate of "Amazing", written by Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard from their publishing company, HaloSongs.
The news has definitely turned up as a disbelief and have placed the Grammy winner in a musical mess as it has been maintained that Photograph is akin to Harrington and Leonardo's musical occurrence which was staged by Matt Cardle, the winner of the 2010 season of The X Factor.
The pair points out that the composition of the track 'Photograph' bears an exact similarity with their track, composed by the duo in 2009.
The pair maintains that the similarities are "instantly recognisable to the ordinary observer".
The litigants in the case are being represented by Richard Busch, the attorney who also won a US$3.5M case over 'Blurred Lines' and represented Marvin Gaye.
The official documents maintain The lawsuit says: "Given the striking similarity between the chorus of Amazing and Photograph, (the) defendants knew when writing, publishing, recording, releasing, and distributing Photograph that they were infringing on a pre-existing musical composition.
"The conduct of (the) defendants has been wilful from the inception of the creation of Photograph.
"The copying of Amazing by Photograph is breathtaking in its deliberateness, magnitude, and hubris."
Regardless of the infinite speculations, Sheeran is yet to make a public statement on the existing chaos.
'Photograph' has successfully sold more than 3.5 million copies on both sides of the Atlantic and is the fifth single from Sheeran's 2014 lot.
