As per recent reports, Robert Downey Jr, as Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law as John Watson will pair up again for a new adventure that will make up "Sherlock Holmes 3." The first revelation of the third installment came straight from Downey Jr. himself when he revealed the production plans. This is certainly a welcome news as "Sherlock Holmes 3" has been long awaited, with the previous installment released 5 years ago. As Robert Downey Jr was already occupied with his Marvel projects, it is understandable that the movie took so long get off the ground. However, now the production is said to start in fall and it is only a matter of time when the fans will be able to embark on yet another mystery with the famous detective.

Producer Joel Silver confirmed recently that the film is most likely to begin in Fall this year as Robert Downey Jr and the rest of the team is very pleased with the new script. Considering that Robert Downey Jr has committed to "Avengers: Infinity War," post-New Year, fall seems to be the most logical filming date. Luckily, Jude Law and Guy Ritchie are also able to fit into the fall schedule, after finishing "Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur."

According to Joel Silver, "Sherlock Holmes" is expected to make more sequels rather than terminating the series after a trilogy. Reports suggest that if the film schedule for Fall goes as planned, it is possible that the fans will be able to see their favorite movie as early as 2018.
