Daniel Craig News Update: Not Returning as James Bond, Turns Down £68 Million Deal
Fans won't get to see Daniel Craig as James Bond in the franchisee's next two films. The actor has played the role of leading male protagonist in four Bond films in the past.
Reportedly, Craig has turned down franchisee's £68 million offer to return as Bond in the next two films. The actor has been pretty sceptical about appearing in future films after the recent release of the film, Spectre. Still, he was offered this huge amount of money to appear in the next film, which has been reportedly turned down.
According to reports, Craig didn't just wanted the huge amount of money that the franchisee was throwing at him. "Craig is done, pure and simple," a source revealed.
The report suggests that Craig had always treated Spectre as his last Bond movie, but the production team did not stop from bargaining and making a bid to retain the actor. However, the news about contract rejection has not been confirmed by Craig himself.
Craig's unwillingness to take up another Bond project is not surprising for the fans. In the past, he has been heard saying several times that he would rather slash his wrists rather than to take up a Bond movie. However, he has signed several other projects since the release of Spectre, including television adaptation of the novel Purity.
Looks like Craig has finally made up his mind on not to do another Bond movie. Moreover, it's better for the Bond production team not to force Craig to take up the movie, since an actor's disinterest in the project would ultimately affect the quality of output and the final film. The producers won't like to compromise with that, at least.
Meanwhile, the internet has gone crazy about who Craig's successor would be since the news about his offer rejection has become popular. Many speculate that Tom Hiddleston might be the next Bond.
