Destiny 2 News, Rumors and Updates: Leaked Poster Pictures Show Rise of Iron Expansion
The title of Destiny forthcoming DLC has been reportedly leaked via Reddit post with a picture of a promotional poster revealing the name of the expansion- The Rise of Iron.
The swirling Rise of Iron rumor may have some truth in it. Bungie and Activision have previously confirmed a 'large new' expansion for Destiny this year. The upcoming DLC is also stated in the latter's 2015 full fiscal year report. As reported by VG247, the DLC is likely to be released sometime in September based on the game studio's previous release schedules. The sequel title to the game is expected to be lined up for 2017.
The promotional art features an image of Lord Saladin, the Titan linked to the Iron Banner multiplayer event in the said title, holding a huge flaming hammer and flanked by three wolves. In the background are dilapidated metal work, rocks, and snow reminiscent of Old Russia. The poster is logically sensible as it would have been picked up from the Raid of last year's House of Wolves DLC.
Two insider sources contacted by Kotaku confirmed the poster's authenticity. And as expected, the Rise of Iron expansion will feature a new raid. The Raid is loosely adapted from an earlier Fallen-themed expansion that was originally slated for inclusion in the House of Wolves expansion before it was dropped.
How the storyline proceeds in the Rise of Iron expansion remains a guess until the DLC's purported release in fall. Some fans speculate that the image of Lord Saladin as he stands before big breach on in a wall is reminiscent of the Battle of the Twilight Gap.
For unfamiliar folks, the Battle of Twilight Gap in Destiny lore took place outside the city where the Kell of the Fallen House of King raised a massive horde from various houses to attack and capture the Traveler. A force of Saladin-led Guardians stood in defense of a fort but was overwhelmed. Lord Shaxx then managed to lead a counterattack that eventually defeated the fallen.
