However, as both of them faced difficult times with emotionally painful divorces, they came along well and it did help face the difficult times. As per Shelton, Stefani saved his life and their association was scripted by God.

In a recent interview, he revealed that his association with Stefani may look unexpected, but it served a massive purpose rather than merely helping each other get over their exes. She has also mentioned in an interview that the unexpected relationship with Shelton did save her life, and helped her fight difficult moments of her life.

Both of them have their albums live, which they consider as something close to their heart. This has been explicitly mentioned by both of them in an interview with Refinery29. Shelton has confirmed that the past hurdles and emotional challenges that both of them faced last year has fueled their latest projects. Stefani was clear that she would follow her heart in writing the song 'This is what the Truth feels like' and didn't care about the label or the chart rankings.

Shelton too wrote the song last fall in an attempt to impress Stefani which he did! Reports suggest that, Gwen did love the song which is when Blake asked her to write the rest of it - the duet which went on to becoming something special to both of them.
