Game aficionados are known to have a crazy fascination with their favorite games and when it comes to favorites, Half-Life does deserve special mention. The video game possesses an iconic status among followers and even after a decade, the wait for the third installment is very much alive.

And if you too belong to the ilk, then here is some good news that will certainly cheer you up. According to reports, the third part might be released by Valve Corporation in 2018 as a full VR game title. Game fans and observers are saying that the company will announce the third sequel of the massively-popular video game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo to be held in 2017. So, what is the basis of this speculation?

Well, the recent partnership between HTC and Valve Corporation to produce VR systems has sparked off the rumors and insiders are saying that it includes the "Half-Life 3" project. It might be true but neither HTC nor Valve has confirmed the reports.

So, till the conformation comes, it is still a guessing game. But it cannot be denied that fans are hopeful and are looking forward to playing the third installment. Still, there is also a section that believes third installment is never going to happen. And sadly, it was hinted at by Valve CEO in 2015.

Gabe Nawell had said in an interview that the company may choose to move forward without the third installment. He said that the company would go back and do like a super classic kind of product if there was enough support and reasonable explanation as to why they want to do it.

He added that doing another Half-Life game while ignoring what they have learned in shipping portal 2 and all the multiplayer side updates, is a bad choice. But he did say that it does not mean Half-Life 3 is never going to happen, as the worried fans are being made to believe.

Well, fans can definitely keep their hopes alive, but till any official announcement, one should take every news with a pinch of salt.
