‘Winds of Winter’ News Update: Does the Chapter on George R.R. Martin’s Site Indicate a Delay

HBO series 'Game of Thrones' outpaced 'Winds of Winter' by a fair gap and all those book fans who were thinking the sixth installment would come a little later will have to wait more. There is still no official news about the release date.

A few days ago, George R.R. Martin released a chapter from "Winds of Winter" on his site. The chapter focuses on Arianne Martell, daughter of Prince Doran, who is on a conquest to fulfill her father's dream. In a sharp contrast, the TV show has killed the prince and his daughter in the first episode of season six.

According to reports, this chapter might be a follow-up of the chapter the author released in 2013. This means that the chapter was written a long time back. If the author does not follow a chronological order in his writing schedule, it is fully possible that the chapter is old and was published on the site just to keep the interest of book lovers alive and if possible, enhance it.

The reports suggest that the author released a chapter of the sixth installment because it made sense and was also necessary to an extent. HBO's 'Game of Thrones,' Season 6, is on air and four episodes old. This is to say that almost half of the season is over and viewers are riding on the events and developments hatched by the creative team.

If the chapter was not released, they might have lost track of the book to a great degree as the show has diverged from the book's plot a lot of times. The sixth season's storyline is solely the creation of show's writers and thus, it makes things a little trickier for the book lovers.

Notably, George has delayed a good deal as the fifth installment was released in 2011. The author has also admitted to missing deadlines and said that 'Winds of Winter' won't hit the market soon. Looks like, the wait is only going to get longer.
