MacBook Pro 2016 is being planned by Apple at WWDC which will be held in San Francisco from June 13-17. Hence, this seems like an opportune time to launch their much awaited surface pro 5 which is in direct competition with MacBook Pro 2016.

However, the recent speculations indicate that the release of laptop may be deferred until 2017, so that they can make way for their latest operating system, also speculated to release soon. Windows 10 Redstone release is pegged for early 2017 and may not be launched alongside Surface Pro 5. However, it is important to note that the release date of Surface Pro 5 has not yet be officially announced by Microsoft.

As far as the specs of the upcoming Surface Pro 5 are concerned, it has been reported previously that it will be fueled by Kaby Lake Processor so that it can handle the power issues, faced by the previous model. Surface Pro 4 faced heating and battery draining problems due to flawed processor. This laptop will also feature USB Type-C port, Mini Display Port and audio jack, as well as a MicroSD card slot.

It has also been reported that Microsoft filed for a patent earlier this year for Surface Dock and Pen that will come with in-built battery. The upcoming device will have the built in dock station for Surface Pen, that will be included in its default kit.

Speculations suggest that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will likely start from $899 and go up to $1,599. If the user wants bigger and better processors and hard drives, the prices for that can go up to $2,000.
