WhatsApp to Function Without the Need of a Smartphone?
WhatsApp recently hit the billion user mark. What an achievement for Zuckerberg right? Man's not even middle-aged but the hype and influence he has on the internet world for sure has benefitted all of the world's user base.
The Facebook owned social-messaging chat client is arguably the most popular and of course the most used application in every application store that's there. And to add to it, it's now even encrypted end-to-end. WhatsApp apparently now can also be accessed on PC via browsers except Microsoft's internet explorer and Edge too. However, the application pre-Facebook acquisition was meant to be used only on smartphones.
But now, the truth might be different for the users after all. According to some latest rumors or even confirmed reports after all, it's now evident you could soon be able to use all of WhatsApp's features right on your PC itself. Information about the same haven now surfaced online suggesting that WhatsApp for real, might be working on a full-fledged desktop application for Windows and Mac operating systems. A Twitter account in no way associated with WhatsApp or Facebook have been tracking changes in WhatsApp's beta builds. Even in the recently tweeted images, there are real references to WhatsApp's desktop application being developed for the desktop. This also suggests that it's even though for now it's actually possible to use WhatsApp on PC through your browser, it's a very limited and inconvenient method. To connect your WhatsApp to your web browser, only way possible was to scan the QR code generated and then only your phone would be connected to the Internet. This also added to the fact that the browser be opened as long as you used it.
A fully-fledged desktop application could make it possible to use WhatsApp's important features like document sharing and voice calls without requiring the smartphone to be connected to theinternet all the time.
