Legend of Zelda Wii U Release Date and News: Game Will Have Pre-Show In Nintendo's E3

This year's Nintendo's press conference slot at E3 is decidedly committed to one particular game, the Legend of Zelda.

E3 is an annual event where gaming studios and developers could brag about their recent milestones in the gaming world and showcase something new. For the Japanese gaming giant, it will forego the conventional presentation format and focus on livestreaming the new Legend of Zelda game. No other trailers or demonstrations will be released as the entire conference slot is exclusively for the new Zelda title only.

Given the mounting frustration that fans already have for the past years of waiting, such decision by Nintendo is probably a wise move and may be just what the fans want and need. Nintendo promises that the latest installment of the highly successful Zelda series will mark a pivotal departure from the norms. As per Game Rant, producer Eiji Aonuma says that the whole project they're working on is 'a clean break from the conventions of previous games'. The whole notion of breaking away from conventions is still not clear as details remain scarce at this moment.

"At E3 this year, we're treating people to an immersive Zelda experience. By giving attendees extended hands-on time with this remarkable game, they'll be able to get a much deeper understanding of something new for the franchise," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing as quoted by ComingSoon.Net.

As per VG247, previous Zelda titles like Ocarina of Time, Wind Walker and Twilight Princess had large maps giving players freedom to roam around. In the past, Aonuma sounded hesitant to brand the forthcoming title as an 'open world game.' Shigeru Miyamoto, the series creator, is more straightforward in expressing how much he despised using the term in his previous statements.

Regardless of how the drama surrounding the new Zelda title will unfold, it is still interesting to hear that its creators are attempting to give it a game-changing makeover. If everything turns out well, the latest installment of the franchise should be Nintendo hit. The Nintendo Treehouse: Live E3 show will kick off 9am PT/12pm ET on June 14 with live-streamed gameplay and in-depth comments from its developers.
