iPhone 7 News And Rumors: No Home Button On Apple 2016 Flagship?
Rumors that Apple is doing away with the iconic physical home button for a touch button are doing the rounds again.
Numerous designs have emerged showing what the iPhone 7 may look like without a home button. While the home button's removal allows having a bigger screen if Apple were to also utilize bezel space, it could take some learning for users of existing iPhones to accustom to the new design. These rumors are courtesy two Chinese websites that attributed the information to supply chain sources.
While exciting, these rumors are unlikely to prove given expert predictions for the device. For one, the removal of home button is likely to be introduced with OLED screens which in turn are not expected to appear until next year. Additionally, analyst predictions for this year's iPhone are that it is not going to feature any major designs.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple would retain design features of iPhone 6 for this year's device and reserve big changes for next year's launch. This could hit sales, he predicts.
An Apple Insider report quoting Kuo said the analyst expects sales to fall below $ 200 million this year; Apple's loss is expected to prove gainful for its competitors.
Apple iPhone 7 is expected to be packed in the same form factor as the Apple iPhone and iPhone 6S. The device is expected to feature the A10 chipset and dual-rear camera which could be some consolation for the several prospective buyers who have been waiting on the edges to upgrade from iPhone 5s.
Kuo's predictions may however fall short if Apple's iPhone 7 Pro proves an ace up the sleeve. Though only rumored, it could help Apple makeup for any slump in sales with flagship features. Expect Apple to put to rest all rumors and speculation by fall this year.
