Chicago Bears Coordinator Makes Tearful Apology
The Chicago Bears coordinator, Aaron Kromer made a tearful apology on Monday for his remarks regarding quarterback Jay Cutler, according to the Brad Biggs with the Chicago Tribune.
In the apology, Kromer stated that he made a mistake by speaking in the heat of the moment. Kromer admitted that he had told Ian Rapoport with NFL Network that he was disappointed with how Cutler has played this season. However, Kromer stated that he did not make any comments about buyer's remorse.
The Chicago Tribune reported that:
"Four sources told the Tribune that Kromer adamantly denied he said anything about the franchise having buyer's remorse for Cutler's blockbuster contract and assured players that portion of Sunday's report on NFL Network did not come from him. With Cutler in the room, Kromer did admit however to being frustrated with the quarterback's play management and expressing that to Ian Rapoport as he left Soldier Field on Dec. 4 after the fifth loss in seven games."
"I said what I had to say to the players," Kromer said.
One source noted that during the apology, Cutler shook his head. Another source, according to ESPN, stated that Cutler "certainly isn't happy."
Kromer and Cutler are expected to meet the media on Friday, NFL reported.
Cutler is currently the highest paid player in the NFL. Last January, the quarterback signed a seven-year contract worth $126.7 million with a guarantee of $54 million. Despite the Bears' losses, Cutler is expected to have one of the best seasons of his career in terms of numbers. However, he leads the league with 21 turnovers.
The Bears (5-8) will host the New Orleans Saints (5-8) Monday night.
