Sherlock Holmes 3 News Update: Filming to Start with Robert Downey Jr. On Board
Robert Downey Jr., amidst his busy schedule, has confirmed his presence and availability for the role of 'Sherlock Holmes' in the third edition of the film.
The star actor is all set to meet the director of the film - Guy Ritchie as he would be visiting the UK for Captain America: Civil War. The shooting for the film is expected to start next year.
Downey agreed to the fact that his busy schedule has caused undesired delays in the filming of Sherlock Holmes 3. The second edition of the film which was released in 2011, featured the artificial death of Sherlock post his fight with his nemesis. Since then, fans had to wait for more than 5 years in suspense for the third edition to unfold what was in store.
According to reports, in the year 2015, there were vibes on the release of the third installment of the Sherlock Holmes saga when the producer and co-writer Lionel Wigram announced that he is working on the Sherlock Holmes 3 script along with Drew Pearce, who wrote several successful films like Iron Man 3, Mission Impossible - also featuring Downey. Despite the hard work and enthusiasm shown to initiate filming in the year 2016, it was the busy schedule of Downey which delayed the entire process for Sherlock Holmes 3. He was occupied with the filming of the movie, Captain America - Civil War, which is set to release early next month and on the other hand, Ritchie was busy with King Arthur, which is due to release in March 2017.
Sherlock Holmes hit the theatres for the first time in 2009 with the second edition of the film released in the year 2011. Leveraging on the immense popularity of the book drafted by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the first two editions of the film grossed over $500 million.
