Michael Keaton to Star as McDonald's Kingpin in 'The Founder'
After his starring appearances in Oscar winners Spotlight and Birdman, Michael Keaton is all set to play the fast food kingpin in the movie 'The Founder.'
According to reports, 'The Founder' will portray how the milkshake machine salesman, Ray Kroc, was instrumental in launching McDonalds, which is the world's best and most successful fast food joint. Produced by Weinstein Co. Michael Keaton will star as Ray Kroc in the movie. The trailer of the movie portrays the journey of Kroc and how he envisioned his impeccable dream.
Persistence, as described by Kroc in one of his clips, is the key to success. And this key led a 52 year old milkshake machine seller to set up a vast empire comprising 600 restaurants and generate revenues of more than $700 million. The plot would exemplify the aggressiveness and ambitiousness of the character Kroc and how he becomes power-hungry with the inorganic success of McDonalds, clashing with his business partners in the process.
Kroc, amidst all, did muster a lot of recognition being included in the Time's 100 most important people of the century. Ray Kroc was hired as a franchise agent who went ahead to purchase the chain for $2.7 million, leaving each of the McDonald's brothers with $1 million, after taxes.
Michael Keaton launched his career in the film industry by his excellence in comical roles in films such as Night Shift, Mr. Mom, and is referred to as "the best Batman" for his comical characterization in Batman and Batman Returns. On the other hand, with the sudden stunning news of the demise of Prince, with whom he did spend impressionable time during his transcontinental tour, Keaton did express his love for Prince and grief on his passing.
'The Founder' is set to hit the theatres on August 4, 2016 - something to watch out for!
