Resident Evil 7 News and Update: What Do Gamers Want from ‘Resident Evil 7’
While Resident Evil 6 failed to impress the gamers, it looks like Capcom is under tremendous pressure with their rumored Resident Evil 7 to turn the tables back in its favor.
Capcom is aware of the things that went wrong with the previous installment of the RE franchise and wants to set the wrong, right. However, the question is, what does game really want to make the cut?
The biggest problem, as indicated by gamers, was that Resident Evil franchise tried too hard to please every gamer. There were elements of Call of Duty, Last of Us, Dead Space and many other games combined into one. What Capcom now needs is an increased focus. The recent Remaster of original Resident Evil did wonders when it was released online and managed to sell 1 million copies in no time. There is no doubt that the market is still open for survival horror games that Resident Evil 7 needs to acknowledge.
Another thing that didn't fit into Resident Evil scheme of things was a multiplayer/co-op mode. Resident Evil 7 should bring its focus back to campaign and produce a more cohesive singular experience. Even though Co-op is not entirely a bad idea, Capcom needs to find a balance to incorporate it without losing its true essence.
It is very important to get the right balance between action and stealth. It is not fun to throw the player into battles and supply them with inadequate ammo. This is the same thing that Shinji Mikami messed up with "The Evil Within." Resident Evil has also suffered from the same conundrum. At one moment you are stealthily trying to walk through a corridor and in the next one, you are met with dozens of enemies trying to chew your head off.
