Tim Tebow News and Rumors: Former NFL Player Potential Congressman Candidate?
Tim Tebow news and rumors are now focused on his potential run for congress.
A congressman, Ander Crenshaw, 71, in Florida, has publicly announced that that he will no longer run for re-election after serving for 16 years. Now people are hoping that the former NFL player will run for the position.
The Washington Examiner reported, "Republican sources told the Examiner that they are reaching out to Tebow in hopes he will consider a bid. They are even quietly pulling together a potential campaign team that he could use for the upcoming August 30 primary."
Tebow has stated that he is interested in politics and now that Crenshaw is stepping down, county citizens are saying it is a great change for him to take that spot.
Just two weeks ago, in an interview with Fox & Friends, when asked about a potential career in politics, Tebow responded that running for a political position would be "intriguing."
"I don't know at this time in my life If there's a chance you can make a difference someday in something, then that would be intriguing," stated the 28-year-old.
Tebow is known for his being a devoted Christian and his work in charity, especially with supporting young children who are sick. His background in charity makes many think that he is a great potential candidate.
Washington Times writes of other different reasons why the political run would make total sense. First of all, Crenshaw comes from the same district which includes Jacksonville, where Tebow is currently residing. Additionally, the former quarterback has his business, the XV Enterprises, and a charity, the Tim Tebow Foundation located in the area.
Other potential runners are former Jacksonville Sheriff John Ruther, previous Jacksonville Mayor John Delaney, and Duval County property appraiser Jerry Holland, stated the Florida Times-Union.
The deadline to enter the August primary is June 24.
