Manchester United are going to be the busy in the summer transfer market and one of the areas on the pitch that the club are going to reinforce is the central midfield position, that has often missed a touch of class over the past two season. One of United's long term targets for the holding midfield role has been Lazio's Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia and according to reports, the midfielder might be available for sale in the summer should an adequate offer come through.

Manchester United have had problems with the holding midfield position following the decline of their once formidable midfieler Michael Carrick and the gamble on an ageing Bastian Schweinsteiger has not had the desired results as the player struggled for form as well as fitness since his move from Bayern Munich last summer. Michael Carrick is all set to move on in the summer after the talks of an extension between him and the club proved to be fruitless. Plenty of fellow English Premier League clubs are thought to be interested in him with London based club West Ham United being the frontrunner for his signature. That will open up a spot in the midfield.

Lazio has slapped a price tag of £20 million on the midfieler, who is also their captain and one of the most important members of the Rome based club's first team. United have been in the market for holding midfielder for some time and unfortunately they have not been able to get their targets, however Biglia is a player that they have been after for a long time and it seems that they can finally get their man in the summer. However at the same time it is necessary to point out that Italian giants Inter Milan are also in the fray to sign the midfielder and if that happens then the Red Devils might have to pay more than the asking price due to a bidding war. As far as finances are concerned, Manchester United can outbid Inter Milan if they want the player and a bid for Biglia could be on in the summer.
