Legend of Zelda News, Rumors And Updates: Game Offers Male and Female Link To Gamers

The Legend of Zelda is pretty much one of Nintendo's sought after games on its Wii U platform despite repeated delays for quite some time. Interestingly, latest roundups from Zelda rumor mill suggest a fascinating update about the highly anticipated game such as the ability of the Link to transform gender.

For gamers, having the option to change Link's gender at will would be an exciting feature if speculations flying across rumor land proves accurate upon Zelda's release.

As reported by Game Rant, most fans assume that the Link was female in the latest Zelda trailer but Nintendo denied the single-gender rumors. The Japanese gaming giant might brought forth Linkle (Link's female counterpart in the recent title 'Hyrule Warriors Legends') as a means of satisfying fans' desire for a female Link.

So why is Link male to begin with?

The question is no-brainer. It's all about tradition given the Japanese known resistance to change and adapt quickly, it's not surprising at all not so a female Link for a very long time.

"When Legend of Zelda was first made, boys made up the majority of the video game-playing crowd. In that regard, it makes sense to feature a boy playable character. Boys, traditionally, are the ones to rescue princesses, too. Add on the fact that Nintendo is no stranger to 'save the damsel in distress' storylines, and it seems like it just made sense," explained Cameron Koch in Tech Times.

Meanwhile, Nintendo Life reported that the new Zelda game may also have voice acting which is excitingly new given the fact that official games mostly, if not all, have no voice acting save for the rare grunts, odd noises, and one-liners of the game characters.

As of press time, there's no release date in sight or any insider leaks that would suggest a definite schedule some time in the near future.
