The Flash: EP says midseason finale 'even bigger and better' than Arrow crossover

Tonight's midseason finale of "The Flash" will give us a moment that fans - and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) have been waiting for. The return of the Reverse Flash.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg discussed the episode with EOnline, calling it "even bigger and better" than the extremely popular "Arrow"/"Flash" crossover.

Kreisberg also tells EOnline, fans can expect some important information on the villain who killed Barry's mom.

"Well, we're definitely going to find out more about the Reverse-Flash," Kreisberg said. "A bunch of questions posed in the pilot are going to be answered in this episode as well as a bunch more mysteries will be presented. Hopefully it will be a satisfying conclusion for the audience, for the people who really invested in these first nine episodes, while also giving people a reason to come back in January to find out exactly how the rest of it plays out."

Kreisberg also spoke about the return of Firestorm/Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) and what happens next with Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker).

"That's the mystery. What exactly happened to Ronnie? I think it's fairly complicated and sad and tragic, but also exciting and we're going to get to experience it through Danielle Panabaker's character Caitlin, who was Ronnie's fiancé," the EP said. "She gives an amazing performance in this episode as does Robbie. It's heartbreaking in the best sense as we get to find out the truth of what really happened to Ronnie Raymond."

Judging from the promo for the midseason finale, entitled "The Man in the Yellow Suit", this will be a powerful episode. Barry could be forced to deal with emotions that haven't come to the forefront since he's never met Reverse Flash face to face. Also, Barry - not The Flash - will square off against the speedy villain.

The promo also seems to squash a popular theory. In one of the scenes, Eddie is one of the police who square off with Reverse Flash. There is a popular theory circulating that Eddie is Reverse Flash since Eddie's full name - Eddie Thawne - appears to be a play on the name Eobard Thawne. Eobard Thawne is known in DC Comics as one of the characters who became Reverse Flash. So if the Flash's arch nemesis isn't Eddie, who is it?

Let me know any thoughts or theories you have.

"The Flash" airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
