Cristiano Ronaldo News and Rumors: Ronaldo Could Be Back at Old Trafford in a £48 Million Move
Manchester United's cherished dream of bringing one of their biggest super stars of the recent past to Old Trafford might come to fruition, if Spanish journalist Guillem Balague's recent claims are to be believed. According to the journalist, Real Madrid are prepared to listen to offers of around £48 million for their super star forward in the summer and considering the sort of interest that United have shown in bringing back their old boy to Old Trafford, it should be a transfer that they would be willing to do. Back in 2013, former United player Dennis Irwin had stated that United would move try to bring Ronaldo to Old Trafford but Ronaldo signed a new deal at Real Madrid and the move did not materialise.
However, the situation is different now and the Real Madrid hierarchy believe that it may be the right time to cash in on the striker who joined them for £80 million in a record breaking move from Manchester United in 2009. Ronaldo is 31 years old at this point in time and has not had the best of seasons considering his own lofty standards, which is why they have slapped a £48 million price tag on their biggest player.
Real Madrid are going to go on a squad overhaul following a disappointing season in which they might end up with no trophies if they fail to win the UEFA Champions League and this might be the right time for them to cash in on their 31 year old super star, who might himself be looking for new challenges. However, in this regard it needs to be pointed out that although Manchester United would not have any trouble in stumping up the transfer fees and the astronomical wages that Ronaldo is sure to demand, they might come up against the challenge posed by Ligue 1 club Paris St. Germain. The Qatar Investment Authority backed club have been in pursuit of Ronaldo for some time and might rival United for the signature of the three time Ballon D'Or winner. If Ronaldo wants to move then a bidding war between United and PSG might make the summer interesting.
