Tesla unveils New Model “3”
American automotive giants Tesla motors on Thursday unveiled their new electronic car model "3". It hopes to break through the car-enthusiasts. It was announced by being driven on to the stage through a curtain of fog in a lavish unveiling in Los Angeles.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk assured that the car will seat about five people, and reach the highest safety marks, along with achieving at least 210 miles of coverage in a single charge. Even though, the performance might not outclass its larger sibling, the super-luxury Model S it should be pretty impressive. The vehicle is estimated to hit a target of zero to 60 miles per hour in about less than 6 seconds.
Tesla even offered test rides with a long straightaway. The car is supposed to be in motion in near silence.
The Model 3will be priced at $35,000, about half the cost of its two current models, the Model S sedan and Model X crossover. This is the first time that Tesla are attempting to lure an average car buyer not just the wealthy class but even the average middle-class car enthusiast into a fully electric-car experience.
The car's profile is similar to the Model S having trunks both front and rear, since it is a no-gas engine housing only batteries and electric motors. Inside, the car has a huge screen on the center console like other Tesla, though it is slightly smaller than on the Model S or X. Analysts are hoping to see many variants of the Model 3. The initial reactions of the car are however favorable to Tesla.
Customers can now make reservations paying a refundable 1000 US$. Musk announced that the figures had passed about the mark of 115,000 and in the middle of the event, the counter behind the bars kept leaping forward peaking at 137,000 about an hour later. Even at 100,000 Tesla would have already made about 3.5billion US$. In pre-orders setting an all-time record for the automotive manufacturer.
Tesla aims to produce around 500,000 cards with even an intent to setup a lithium-ion battery factor supposed to be the largest in the world. Musk also indicated that Model 3 cars will be delivered sometime late in 2017. The customers are also eligible to gain free access to Tesla's supercharger network which are high speed recharging units both in cities and major highways facilitating intercity travel.
