Cleveland Cavaliers Trade Rumors: Cavs Interested in Grizzlies’ Players

The Cleveland Cavaliers are rumored to be eyeing Memphis Grizzlies' forward, Tayshaun Prince and/or reserve center, Kosta Koufos. According to the rumors, Prince could add more depth for the Cavaliers' bench with Dion Waiters struggling.

"Cleveland, sources say, has been inquiring with the Memphis Grizzlies about the available of reserve center Kosta Koufos among their various trade pursuits," Marc Stein with EPSN wrote. "Sources say that the Cavs are well aware landing a quality big man likely depends on selling on potential trade partners to take back polarizing shooting guard Dion Waiters. Cleveland rates Waiters' talent highly, but sources maintain that the Cavs have let a number of teams know they are prepared to surrender him if they can acquire a difference-making center in return."

Talks for either player could occur over the next few weeks.

A trade for the veteran and one-time NBA Champion, Prince, 34, who has fallen out of the Grizzlies' rotation, could be difficult since the Cavaliers only have a $5.28 million trade exception. Prince's remaining contract is worth $7.7 million.

In his 2013 season, Prince recorded a career low 8.4 efficiency rating. Although his numbers are not as poor this season, the Grizzlies have no use for him in their lineup.

Koufos has not had much time to shine, playing behind healthy Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph. Koufos is averaging 3.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 14.1 minutes per game. Although Koufos' numbers are lower than usual, he could also be an asset for Cleveland.
