NBA Trade Rumors, Celtics And Cavaliers Having Talks Of Trading Kevin Love
As the trade deadline approaches, the rumored Kevin Love deal between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers appeared to have reached a dead-end after the former's 'low-ball' offer failed to convince the latter to proceed with the trade.
"If (the Cavs) lose again, I'd bet big on Love being elsewhere, a split that might end up the best thing for everyone. Cleveland and Boston had trade talks for Love at the deadline, though they died with Boston offering a low-ball package the Cavs wouldn't consider, according to several league sources," wrote Zach Lowe in an ESPN post.
Despite a deal-breaker due to Boston's insufficient offering on the table, there are still a number of NBA teams eyeing to get Love to the fold. So with no confirmed trade in sights, Cavs power forward may well stay with the team and work tirelessly to build a seamless working chemistry with Kyrie Irving and LeBron James as reported by Sports Rageous.
As for Celtics, they might be pressured to revisit the deal as the team lacks an elite big man who is a great rebounder and good outside shooter. With an average 20 points per game, he may be a reasonable fit to Boston's roster of players who could help pick up where the team slacks off.
But Celtics do have its own reasons not to aggressively pursue for Love. As some observers put it, Boston appeared to have already cooled on him.
"According to all sources, Danny Ainge still has affection for Love, but it's not nearly the borderline obsession that was in play last summer. And from all indications, Love is not seen as a foundational player upon whom to build. Further, sources say his knee issues are bound to have an impact on his basketball longevity and effectiveness," quoted Jeff Clark in his post in the Celtics Blog.
