NBA Trade Rumors: Is Dwight Howard Going Back to Orlando Magic?

Is Dwight Howard heading back to his first NBA team Orlando Magic?

One of the most dominant center in the league has lead the Orlando Magic into Finals in 2009. (Eventually losing to Kobe Bryant's La Lakers)

Howard is under contract for next season, but he is able to opt before June 29. Bleacher Report's Ric Bucher has reported he would like to stay with the Rockets. However, if Houston can't give him the contract he wants or simply is not interested (there has been talk that Howard and James Harden are not getting along too well as a team).

"League sources tell me that the Magic have heard through back channels that Howard would entertain a return to the Magic Kingdom. Make no mistake, his first choice is to return to the Houston Rockets. But if Houston is not on board with that, Howard is exploring his options, and Orlando is on the list." said Ric Bucher.

It's unlikely that Houston Rockets would choose Howard over James Harden if they have to choose one of them as Rockets consider the Beard more important to the team.

If the Rockets choose not to keep him, or don't offer him the kind of contract he's thinking about, Bucher says that the Magic are in play to get Howard back.

At 30-years-old, Howard is still one of the most dominant center in the league and top defensive player by far. However, he is having a lowest statistical season since he played in the NBA.

If Howard decides to go back to Magic, can he bring back his former team to the finals once again?

Dwight is only averaging 14.1 points per game with 11.9 rebounds per game.
