Ted Cruz: Trump Planted A Sex Scandal Story And Is Burning Down The Party
Ted Cruz reacted angrily to a tabloid report, which has charged him with having had "multiple extramarital affairs". He accuses his rival, Donald Trump, of planting the story in the tabloid, the National Enquirer. Meanwhile, the Republican Party is being burnt down by Trump, Cruz says.
Cruz came out with his response during a campaign stop in Wisconsin. He said, "This National Enquirer story is garbage. It is complete and utter lies. It is a tabloid smear, and it is a smear that has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen."
The campaigner posted his response also on his Facebook page:
"I want to be crystal clear: these attacks are garbage. For Donald J. Trump to enlist his friends at the National Enquirer and his political henchmen to do his bidding shows you that there is no low Donald won't go.
These smears are completely false, they're offensive to Heidi and me, they're offensive to our daughters, and they're offensive to everyone Donald continues to personally attack.
Donald Trump's consistently disgraceful behavior is beneath the office we are seeking and we are not going to follow."
Some simple investigation revealed that Trump had doctored the smutty story. It was discovered that the publisher of the National Enquirer is close friends with Trump. Last year, the Enquirer staffers were told by management that sex scandal investigative pieces on Trump should not be conducted during the election campaign.
One of Cruz's alleged mistresses, Amanda Carpenter of the CNN, was asked whether the charge of an extramarital affair was true.
She retorted: "What's out there is tabloid trash. If someone wants a comment on it, they should talk to my lawyer. It is categorically false. You should be ashamed for spreading this kind of smut. Donald Trump supporters should be held to account for it, and I will not be intimidated. I will continue to make my thoughts known about Donald Trump, and I am not backing down."
The story has put off many of the voters, who view it as disgusting and disappointing in an age in which the economy, terror attacks and global warming are the burning issues.
