GoPro Hero 5 Release Update and Rumors: New Device Most Likely To Roll Out In October

The long wait for the GoPro Hero 5 will finally come to an end this year. It was at a conference call last month that GoPro CEO Nick Woodman confirmed  that the camera would be released, even though the date did not get finalised.

Currently, the focus is still on the Karma Drone, but while the release date for the camera has not been confirmed, rumors whisper that it will be out in October.

According to CEO Nick Woodman, the company is planning to maintain the current lineup as the Hero4 Black, Silver and Session and only "later this year," introduce the Hero5. Rumors speculate that the arrival will be in October.

Even though the rumors may not be clear, the specific details of GoPro's release window will be on people's minds until something else contradicts the whispers.

It is expected that the GoPro Hero 5 will show some new features. One extra feature would be an enhanced skill for the ability to record 8K videos. This would be an important addition, which would double the capability of the Hero 4 Black at present managing to record 4K videos.

It would also feature a novel processor.

GoPro cameras have used Ambarella products to energize their devices, though its use by the Hero 5 may not happen. Qualcomm is making inroads with its Snapdragon processors. And its line of Snapdragon processors may offer the processors that GoPo's camera is seeking to produce.

With Qualcomm creating its Wi-Fi and 4G LTE modems, a Snapdragon might be a better fit for GoPro's camera plans.

With GoPro still not revealing its new features, the real aspects of the camera will be out in public only much later.
