NBA Rumors: Rajon Rondo Rumored To Join New York Knicks
The recent frenzy over NBA trade rumors ahead of the free agent season is showcasing the likelihood of Rajon Rondo bidding farewell to Sacramento Kings for New York Knicks.
The Knicks is desperately searching for a point guard who could rectify the teams consistent disjointed and misfiring offense. That makes Rondo on top of the team's shopping list this summer.
As reported by New York Post, Rondo was wise enough to sign a one-year $9 million contract with Sacramento which proved quite well to rehabilitate his marred public image with an outstanding performance of an average 11.7 points and 11.8 assists per game.
Despite a possible future career with Knicks next season, public doubts over his inability to fight off let alone implement a Triangle Offense is currently making rounds in the media.
"You can't ask a guy that wasn't very successful playing against it whether or not he wants to come play in it," remarked former Knicks coach Derek Fisher who belittled his ability in playing against the notorious triangle offense as quoted in an ESPN report.
In his verbal tussle with Fisher, Rondo answered that he's got what it takes to learn the complexities of the game strategy despite his earlier statements against it.
"I'm not against anything. I'm pretty smart: I can figure out anything I need to figure out... I'm not saying I couldn't master (the triangle). I think I can put my mind to it, break down a lot of film if that was the case to be," said Rondo in a rebuttal against his perceived Triangle Offense weakness as quoted by Morning News USA.
Knick's interim coach expressed his strong willingness to take Rondo under his wings and train him on Phil Jackson's winning offense. But as of now, the supposed future marriage is still a work in progress with Rondo's manager Billy Duffy meeting with Knicks GM Steve Duffy over a possible done deal as reported by Fansided.
