An exciting night of American Idol on FOX on Thursday, March 17, episode 19 called "Top 5 Perform" ended with exceptional performances by the top 5 finalists.

Sonika showcased her best performance with "Let It Go" from Frozen. She has been one of the best contestants so far.

Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence" sung by Dalton under the dim lights was an outstanding performance.

Adam's "Welcome to the Show" along with a debut named Laleh had a charismatic performance, though Laleh did not have much effect.

Trent Harmon performance on One Republic's "Counting Stars" was liked by Connick Jr. and he told that the rocker he "poured his guts" into the lyrics.

La'Porsha, a single mom, favourite among the fans and judges performed India Arie"s ballad "Ready for Love". The judges didn't have anything bad to say and felt sitting in the audience "watching a beautiful performance."

Trent Harmon, Dalton Rapattoni, La'Porsha Renae, MacKenzie Bourg and Sonika Vaid battle for American Idol.

According to the New York Post: "La'Porsha will win the farewell season," says Gold Derby senior editor Marcus James Dixon, who covers "American Idol" for the awards site. "She is the only person who continues to give us memorable moments week after week.

"But don't count out Dalton," Dixon says. "He fits right in with the 'rocker guy' mentality that's won so many times in the past: David Cook, Caleb Johnson, Nick Fradiani."

The battle for American Idol begins!

There are rumors that the original American Idol Judges might turn up for the farewell. Wait and watch.
