Ring Announces New Clever Video Doorbell with Two-punch Combo with Improved Camera and Motion Detection
Have a Look at the new Ring Video Door Bell!
This morning witnessed the launch of Ring video doorbell. The new model called the Ring Pro has a two-punch combo and has raised a $61.2 million.
The $249 Ring Pro bumps up the specs acquiring all that matters right from the camera which is 1080p followed by 5Ghz WiFi in addition to 2.4Ghz. Instead of the locked for good out of the box, the faceplates are swappable. When compared to the original this is much smaller.
It still has a two-way speaker, allowing you to answer your door from your phone from anywhere you've got a data connection that hooks into a companion smartphone app. Oh, and the Pro has one other cool trick over the original: you can set custom motion zones. Only care about motion that happens right on your front porch? Just draw a box around the bit you care about.
The new so called a smaller package the Ring Pro has no battery, unlike the standard Ring. The original Ring which has a built-in rechargeable battery allows it to be used wirelessly for a few months at a time by people. Ring Pro, meanwhile, must be wired into your home's door bell chime circuit for power.
In the long run for most of the time, imagine most people will want to wire it up anyway, because saying "sorry my doorbell didn't work, I forgot to charge it" makes you sound like a crazy person. And if you need that battery, the standard Ring is available.
With an additional investment from Sir Richard Branson the $61.2M series C is led by KPCB. Around $39 million was raised by the company previously. Expecting the shipment of the $249 Ring Pro sometime in April, the pre-order is already up right from this morning.
