Girl Meets World Season 3 Spoilers: Show's Creator Hinted Love Triangle Will Be Resolved But Not Really A Primary Focus
In the season finale of Girl Meets World Season 2 finale, the Riley, Maya and Lucas have openly discussed about their feelings for each other leading fans of the show to ask if their live triangle will be given exposition in the show's season 3.
And yes. In an interview with The Wrap, creator and showrunner Michael Jacobs said that live triangle among Riley (Rowan Blanchard), Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lucas (Peyton Meyer) who will now be in high school in season 3 will be resolved.
During the interview, however, Jacobs explained that the budding romance will just be one of the sub-plots that centered around a much-bigger theme on growing up and how teens perceive relationships in this phase.
"This will be answered in Season 3. It will span probably a third to a half of Season 3. Not as primary focus, but always as an underlying thing in existence for the characters. And then when we bring it up to primary, we will resolve it in a way that shows an answer to a much bigger question, which is, how do young people at this age perceive relationships? What is the value of them? And what are our friendships, really? If the audience perceives that what we're talking about is 14-year olds in love, they have missed what we're doing entirely. All of this will explain itself as part of the season," he told the publication.
Jacobs also forecasted that the Disney show's tone will have a big shift in tone or subject matter considering the characters will now face more serious issues such as or underage drinking.
"What we're trying to do is give you very intriguing and compelling episodes, but never breaking the thread of truth. Yes, this honestly happens in high school. I think high school is the most confusing, awful, terrible and ultimately - if you do it right - wonderful springboard into college and the rest of your life. But it's high school we remember. So these are the episodes I want you to remember and we're trying to do our best."
Despite tackling 'heavy subjects', Jacobs assure to honor the demographics of their fans whose youngest age is at 6 years old.
"What we will do is honestly show you within the parameters of what I think and what the staff thinks is correct. Lovely episodes, which will touch on all the same subjects that "Boy Meets World" did."
For those who want to giggle with Riley, Maya and Lucas' love triangle, Enstarz said that they can view them in episodes "Girl Meets Triangle" "Girl Meets Upstate," "Girl Meets Ski Lodge Parts 1 & 2."
Girl Meets World is an offshoot of the 1993-2000 show, Boy Meets World. Unlike its close competitor, Fuller House, the Disney sitcom acquires a new focus, which is now on Riley, the teenage daughter of Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) and not on her parents and other adults in the show, TVline said.
