Transformers 5 Cast and Release Date: 2017 Film May Be Michael Bay's Last Directorial Work
Several rumors of the 2017 movie Transformers 5 have been swirling around since the movie's filming date draws near. One of these is that Transformers 5 will be Michael Bay's last Transformer's directorial job.
This news started when the director, himself, revealed that he would like to move on and pass his director hat to someone else.
"I'm doing Transformers ... 5, is it? I've taken on a lot of work. ... It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else. J.J. [Abrams] told me, 'You're the only guy that could do this.' But it's time to move on. One more," Bay said in an interview.
A different set of writers will also be in-charge of the scriptwriting as Akiva Goldsman will be busy supervising other projects like G.I. Joe and Micronauts. Goldsman will still be supervising and coordinating new writers for the new Transformers movie-- Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (from Iron Man) and Ken Nolan (writer of Black Hawk Down)
It is also said that the filming of Transformers 5 will take place in Detroit, Michigan, the same place where previous Transformers movie were filmed. Filming is slated to start in May.
"Michigan has been so welcoming of Michael Bay and the 'Transformers' movies over the years, and we are thrilled to be returning for this next incredible installment," Lee Rosenthal, President of Paramount Pictures Physical Production said in a statement.
The officials of Michigan are said to have given big opportunities for tax incentives for Paramount considering that other Transformers movies were filmed in the place and that the producers will utilize some of the previous locations for their new project. It is also expected that the filming can generate 228 full-time job equivalents as producers will hire residents and out-of-towners to participate in the project.
It was also reported that the movie will have two plots. One is when Optimus Prime left off during the "Age of Extinction" and he will be engaged in a conflict with the Quintessons leader. The other plot will focus on the challenges experienced by Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) and Ultra Magnus as they are left on Earth to manage the activities of mankind.
Transformers 5 will hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
