Twitter Warns Users Against State Sponsored Hackers
Twitter has warned some of its users against state-sponsored hacks while asking them to secure their presence on social media.
According to Reuters, individuals and organizations that received the emails from Twitter claimed that the mail hinted at hacks but said there was no indication that information was compromised. The mails also mentioned that hackers may have tried to obtain email, IP addresses and even phone numbers.
One of organizations that received the email said that Twitter did not reveal more details, CNET reports.
"At this time, we have no evidence they obtained your account information, but we're actively investigating this matter. We wish we had more we could share, but we don't have any additional information we can provide at this time," text from Twitter's letter posted by Canada-based nonprofit Coldhak reads.
CNET also reported that the email carried a link to information on TOR, a secure browser for online anonymity. Twitter also suggested users try EFF's 'Protecting yourself on social networks'. Coldhak representatives said they have not seen the impact of the attack on their account.
