Apple's 3D Touch proved to be a novel experience to iPhone users that 2016's phone could take further. If rumors prove true, the iPhone 7 could have a bevel-less screen without the home button.

According to iDigital Times, Apple could use an older technology to provide an edge-to-edge screen by sandwiching a glass touch panel between an LCD display and the cover glass. This screen was used on older iphones. Apple's suppliers have been sending samples of this technology, some reports claim.

"We expect the iPhone 7 to sport a unique design from the iPhone 6/6S. As many have speculated, the addition of 3D Touch may provide Apple with a way to eliminate the home button on the phone and use the additional space to make the screen bigger or make the device smaller," analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray said according to Latinos Post.

Bevel-less screen concept for iPhones have been around since before the iPhone 6S was launched. Some had speculated then that this year's iPhone could feature such a screen given that Samsung was launching its Galaxy Edge phones. However, the iPhone 6S featured screens not different from its predecessor.

The screen technology transition could also be fuelled by delay Apple experienced in shipping iPhone 6S Plus; bigger screens have reportedly posed problems to suppliers, warranting the move to glass-sandwich technology.
