Reese Witherspoon Is 'Cool' To Have ‘Legally Blonde’ Elle Woods Back
Reese Witherspoon talks about her iconic role as Elle Woods in the 200s movie franchise, Legally Blonde and suggested that the idea that the world needs the sexy, funny and intelligent character back in the movies.
"It would be cool, I think we're ready to see Elle and see what she's up to lately," the 39-year old actress said in an episode of the "Fashionably Late with Rachel Zoe" via Today.
"A lot of writers over the years have come up with different ideas for it - I actually think it's kind of great right now because we're talking about women in politics and how important that is, to get more women," she said.
The actress further added that the Harvard-alumni would be a good political leader, given the chance.
"And I think it would be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or somebody who runs for office."
As to whether a sequel would really be pushed through, the actress jokingly called MGM's attention about her suggestion.
"Call MGM, I have no idea!"
Witherspoon played Elle Wood, pink-loving, sorority sister-turned-lawyer, in the two movies Legally Blonde (2001) and Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003) and since then has made a lasting impression in her 'bend and snap' flirty technique, US Magazine said.
As to what could be included in Elle Wood's platform given the chance to run for office, E! Online enumerated possible policies that she may put on the table including: Closing the Gender Wage Gap, Leading Educational Reform, Protecting Our Environment, Promoting Non-Discrimination for Minorities, Fighting For Animal Rights, Growing International Trade and Helping Create More Jobs in America.
